WWE Champ CM Punk And Chris Brown- Twitter War!!!

http://www.okmagazine.com/news/wwes-cm-punk-i-would-chris-brown-fight-someone-who-can-defend-themselves

Wrestling Fan's (and Admitted CM Punk Fan's) Take-

Chris Brown seems determined to answer each of his critics personally... not a good career idea... First off, not many are likely to agree with him. Second, his answers are so snarky that he comes off as a guy that doesn't understand why anyone is still mad at him. The fact that most of  the music industry, his fans, and Rihanna has seemed to doesn't help.

Why did CM Punk feel the need to offer his opinion? Well, because that is what Twiiter is... I may not always like it, but Twitter has allowed everyone a chance to speak directly to stars and sometimes they are not going to like what thier "fans" have to say.

Wrestling Blog #11- Wrestlemania 29 Announced, Let The Guessing Begin!

Wrestling Blog #11- HEY! One Wrestlemania at a Time!

With Wrestlemania 28 still weeks away, the WWE wasted no time announcing next year’s event. Wrestlemania 29 will take place April 7, 2013 at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey with Axxess (WWE’s fan festival) and the annual Hall of Fame Ceremony to take place in New York.

Two questions came out of this announcement for this fan-

1. New York City gets Wrestlemania two years in a row?

Wrestling Blog #10- The Obligatory Mania Match Predictions Article- Part Two

Wrestling Blog #10- The Obligatory Mania Match Predictions Article- Part Two

Here we are, closer to Wrestlemania. It seems now would be a perfect time to check out where the matches and the event is…

 John Cena vs. The Rock

Still, this is the only confirmed match on the card.  Last we checked on the matches for Mania, Cena was in a holding pattern waiting on The Rock. Since, he has entered a full-scale feud with Kane.  If it wasn’t for knowing that The Rock is on his way, this feud could easily continue to Mania.  It won’t. After the February event, The Elimination Chamber, Cena will need to forget about Kane and move on. The Rock is confirmed for the final three Raws before Mania.  What they do with those shows will make Cena-Rock either a success or a Giant Success.

 The Undertaker vs. Triple H

Wrestling Blog #9- Royal Rumble Preview

Wrestling Blog #9 The Royal Rumble Preview

The Royal Rumble is coming up this Sunday on Pay-Per-View. While we have been talking about The Road to Wrestlemania since this blog began- by the end of this event, we will begin to see more clearly where some of the other matches are headed.

The Rumble is an annual event that showcased a battle royal event as its highlight. In a typical battle royal, multiple wrestlers are in the ring at once and have to be thrown over the top rope to be out of the match. In this version, all the combatants do not start the match at the same time. In this version, two wrestlers start the match and at timed intervals, another wrestler comes in. The last man in the ring wins and gets a championship match at Wrestlemania. (They say the winner gets the main event, but we already know what the real main event and closing match of ‘Mania will be. Plus, last year the Rumble winner’s match opened the match).

Wrestling Blog #8- Heel 101

Wrestling  Blog #8- Heel 101

In wrestling speak, a good guy is a “babyface” or simply “face” and a bad guy is a “heel.” In the olden days (yeah, harkening back all the way to the 80s!), it was easy to tell who was who.

Hulk Hogan told kids to train, say their prayers, and eat their vitamins- Good Guy! “Macho Man” Randy Savage was mean to Miss Elizabeth- Bad Guy!

Then, the 90s happened and we got the arrival of the “tweener,” a good guy that acts bad…. “Stone Cold” flipped off everyone, good and bad, and the crowd cheered so he was a good guy. “The Rock” was mean to everyone, good and bad, and the crowd cheered so he was a good guy.

This past week, we saw two different WWE wrestlers become bad guys in some way I thought was impossible just last week. They did it in a way that surprised.

Wrestling Blog #7- Cleaning Out My Closet

Wrestling Blog #7- Cleaning Out My Closet

This is an exciting time in pro-wrestling with a lot to talk about, there are three options on what could be my article for this week And I Can’t Decide! So, in classic “Me” fashion; I’m not going to and give you all three!

 STONE COLD DVD

A couple weeks ago, I promised you a review of WWE’s new DVD on “Stone Cold” Steve Austin called “The Bottom Line On The Most Popular Superstar Of All Time”. To make it quick, I do have three things to talk about after all, Pick It Up.

The DVD features a lengthy conversation with Austin as well as many people throughout his career. You get to hear how Steve Williams became Steve Austin, how Steve Austin became “Stunning” Steve Austin, how “Stunning” became “The Ringmaster, and finally- You see how he became “Stone Cold”.

Wrestling Blog #6- The Obligatory Mania Match Predictions Article... Part One

If you are going to cover pro wrestling, you just must write your Wrestlemania card article. And seeing as how I haven’t finished my Stone Cold DVD yet to review for you (it’s really long, but really good), and I need a new article, it must be time for mine… There will be many more of these as the actual matches begin to take shape…

THE ROCK vs. JOHN CENA
This is the only confirmed match on the Wrestlemania event. It was confirmed nine months ago. Even then, the question was- Could the WWE keep this going for a year? So far… not really. The Rock came back for a Survivor Series tag match and has appeared on a few Raws, but the buzz for this match has died down. John Cena is in a holding pattern of sorts now with no real storyline to speak of for the first time since the early days of his career. He is just waiting on The Rock. This match will be huge regardless of buildup, but to be the event the WWE wants it to be; Something needs to be done in the next four months.

Wrestling Blog #5- Bret vs. Shawn DVD

Wrestling Blog #5- Bret vs. Shawn

The term “rivalry” in pro wrestling gets a bit over-used. Statements like “So-and-so are engaged in a heated rivalry” and “never before has their been such emotion going into a match” are pretty standard ways to sell an upcoming event.

Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart had a rivalry, a heated rivalry, and yes; never before has such emotion been involved in a wrestling match. In the 90s, these two men did not get along. However, they were also the number one and two men in the WWE and they HAD to work together. Ironically enough, when they did, it usually led to the match of the night since both are great technical wrestlers.

Wrestling Blog #4- Survivor Series Preview

The WWE runs over a dozen pay-per-views a year. As a wrestling fan, you can’t buy everyone but there are some you have to… HAVE to buy. We call those “The Big Four”. These are the four events per year that have been apart of WWE for the longest. In January, there is the Royal Rumble. In late March/ early April, it’s Wrestlemania. The end of Summer brings Summerslam, and in November, it’s Survivor Series…

Here we will run down the matches at this year’s Survivor Series event…. The 25th Anniversary of the November tradition…

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Eve

Beth is currently the number one diva in the WWE, and to be clear, number two is hard to come by. Kelly Kelly is on the cover of this month’s Maxim, Natayla is Beth’s running buddy, and Eve is a multiple-time champion who has already battled with Beth many times… Beth SHOULD keep the title, but expect Eve to win and move onto a battle with Natayla…

Wrestling Blog #3- The Road To Wrestlemania 28 Began A Long, Long Time Ago…

Wrestling Blog #3- The Road To Wrestlemania 28 Began A Long, Long Time Ago…

Quick Non-Wrestling Fans- Name A Professional Wrestler…. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, Ric Flair, and THE ROCK!

I’m sure there are others, but I would say these four would be at least known to even those that have never watched a pro wrestling match. Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair are still at it, wrestling in Orlando-based group Impact Wrestling. Steve Austin was forced to retire due to injury. The Rock, however, was different.

After becoming one of the biggest, if not the, biggest star of the Attitude 90s era of WWE, The Rock left the WWE to pursue his continuing offers in Hollywood. Now, there are those that are fans of Dwayne Johnson and not The Rock. And, The Rock did something no one does- He Stayed Gone…

Wrestling Blog #2 - Riding Off Into The Sunset Burns - Part 2

ESPN had found their Randy. The Show E:60 aired this past week and showed Scott taking eleven different medications from years of partying and openly talking about his past problems. It showed WWE executive Stephanie McMahon saying that the WWE has spent “six figures” to get Scott drug rehab. (The WWE will pay for any former talent to get help if they ask.) It showed friends in the business talking about Scott’s possible death. Kliq member Sean Waltman said he has been preparing for his death for “a year and a half.”

The show ended on a high note as Scott reunited with his estranged son and began helping him get into the wrestling business. This would be Scott’s happy ending. It was not to be, as it came out after the show aired, that the reunion was short-lived and father and son no longer speak.

Wrestling Blog #2 - Riding Off Into The Sunset Burns - Part 1

Believe me, I did not want only my second entry to be about the dark side of pro wrestling, but sometimes you can not help these things….

In 2008, actor Mickey Rourke got his acting comeback when he played pro wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson. Randy was a big deal in the wrestling peak of the '80s and was now reduced to begging for work in a grocery store and wrestling in smaller venues throughout the country. It’s a flawed movie that none the less earned Mickey Rourke an Oscar nomination and a role in “Iron Man 2.”

Since, the mainstream (read- “people that don’t cover wrestling on a regular basis”) have delighted in finding the “real” Randy Robinson.

She was so excited when they came into the studio and announced that we are making major changes to our website. She announced that each jock was going to have a page of their own and you could talk about whatever your interests are!

Admitting defeat, I had to confess that my interests aren’t that varied--movies, music, pop culture, pro wrestling; that was about it. “Why don’t you write about wrestling?” they said.

Ummm... Do I want to do that?

Pro wrestling, and following of it, is a lot like sushi. If you like it, you love it; and you would gladly drive a far distance to get it done well. If you don’t like it, you don’t understand why anyone would bother.

(For the record, I don’t get sushi. I keep trying it, wondering what I am missing.)
